You write about yoga in such an approachable way, thank you for these explanations! I’m pretty new to the practice and reading your posts makes me want to learn and explore more.

Thank you for this reminder of the 8 limbs! Unfortunately a lot of these practices (including asana!) have fallen by the wayside in my experience of early motherhood but I suppose in other ways I’m drawing on a lot of the principles of yoga in my current everyday with two young children!

Thank you, Lyndsay! I think there’s a lot of value in “yoga of the everyday” and a little bit goes a long way. :)

Such a lovely reminder of the 8 limbs. Thank you! I’ve often wanted to make or buy a print of them to hang in my combo office/yoga space, which would be a lovely reminder for my writing and yoga practices. Grateful for the work you’re doing with this Substack!

Thank you Kate!

That’s such a good idea. I’ve never seen that but there must be some nice designs of it out there. Or you could make your own :)

I didn't know any of this but find so much in the yama and niyama are previously unstated goals for myself.

That’s fantastic. Yeah the more I learn about yoga, the more it seems kind of intuitive (even the movements). Not easy or obvious, but natural. Does this make sense? :)

Certainly. We're really good separating ourselves from the natural in various senses to our detriment. I know yoga isn't Buddhism but is somewhat connected to it. I've always liked Buddhism's tenets about looking inward, overcoming pain, and living for the here and now rather than for another world.

Yes! These are great. I find a lot of wisdom in Buddhism as well
